What is in your opinion the most important thing in the pursuit of good images? Some things immediately come to mind: visualization, light, color, exposure, composition, mastering your gear... the list goes on and on.

When I look back at my favorite images and how they came to be I realize that the single most important thing in photography is getting out of your comfort zone. The best time for photography is at sunrise and sunset - and that's exactly the time when you have to be out there being ready to capture whatever opportunities present themselves.

What I actually had in mind when I headed out in the early morning hours was shooting some wildlife but I wasn't lucky in this regard (which is unfortunately the case most of the time). But it's always good to have a backup plan so I exchanged my super-telephoto for a standard zoom lens with a mounted polarizer and grabbed some images from the sunrise over Graz.
